Bio for Pastor Joseph Salajan
Expand
Pastor Joe was born in the little town of Crasna (Romania). Ever since he was a child, he has been fascinated by the unique connection between pastors and their special book, the Bible. When at the age of 7 he received his first little Bible from a brave pastor who was able to procure it for him in spite of the interdictions of the communist regime, he felt special and decided one day he would become a pastor.

After serving as a Pastor for 8 years in Romania, in 2013 he immigrated to the USA. He currently serves as Lead Pastor of Plantation Seventh-day Adventist Church. Along with his wonderful wife Anda and their gorgeous daughter Alessandra, he enjoys proclaiming God’s grace and ministering to his fellows.

Pastor Joe is currently enrolled in a doctoral Program (DMin in Preaching) with Andrews University. His hobbies are languages, music, and poetry.

Sermon Theme: Freedom to worship the Creator is not something we can take for granted. Sooner or later we will have to face a deceitful demonic system that slowly takes freedom away.

Final Battle

This is like a final battle between the dragon and God’s faithful remnant. So how is the enraged dragon going to wage this war?

The Handover

Chapter 13: Then HE (the dragon) stood on the sand of the sea. [Let me call a friend/associate…] And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name.

(Please notice that this beast looks very much like the dragon… the dragon also has 7 heads and 10 horns). John further describes the beast:

2 Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. [This is reminds of Daniel Ch. 7 – lion, bear, leopard and a weird beast with 10 horns – world superpowers; this composite beast is a descendent of those.]

The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority.

Do you know anybody else in the Bible that received these same things from someone else? This is a parody of the relationship between God the Father and Jesus Christ, the son. So here we have a “like father, like son” situation.

1. Cruelty

If the father is cruel and he invests himself in his son, how will the son be?
(Rev. 13:7 NKJ)

This is a worldwide superpower… What was the superpower that came in the wake of Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome that for centuries persecuted the saints (branding them heretics and witches?
The Admission and Apology

The papal system admitted they persecuted… It would have been hard to deny; those historic church buildings that in Europe that have torture chambers. The inquisitors tortured the accused to extract/illicit a confession; they believed it was their duty to bring them back to the faith. What faith? A faith that had little or nothing to do with the Bible…

The papacy even apologized for the wrongdoings committed in the name of the faith, in the service of the truth through inquisition, crusades, and colonialism… And if apology is made, forgiveness should be granted! However, there is a systematic rewriting of history. Yes, we made mistakes… but it wasn’t that bad. We didn’t torture or kill that many…

Something Deeper

Ok, numbers may be important… but here we deal with something deeper. How can you torture even one in the name of Jesus Christ? How can you kill even one in the name of the cross? How can you tell even one: I am right and you are wrong, so I’m gonna burn you!?
At one point, something unexpected happens:

3 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded [slain unto death –anybody else that was slain…?], and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. 4 So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?"
8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Rev. 13:8 NKJV)
2 Courtesy

This is a diabolic diversion. At one point the sea-beast seems to receive a deadly wound… but was it a deadly wound? No! It was not! It is a maneuver by which the dragon wants the inhabitants of the earth to forget the atrocities of the sea-beast, a sort of brainwash.

The cruel sea-beast acts as if he is deadly wounded… And at this point an ally, a courteous earth-beast comes to the game… This beast has horns like a lamb… but just as deceitful as the dragon!

And what is the task of this beast? Bring back the first beast!!! He was not dead! He was wounded by the emergence of modern atheism during the French Revolution! So now the courteous earth-beast that dwell on the earth to make an image/copy/duplicate/a replica to the sea-beast… He systematically works on convincing the world that system wasn’t all that bad.
3. Coercion

Wow, this is horrible, isn’t it? This superpower is courting the world to create the same kind of system in which the 1st beast is worshiped and then coercion will be used. After some time of courtesy, the enraged DRAGON is going back to the cruelty/coercion mode. And there is an economic component to this coercion. The lamb-likeness of the earth-beast is just a trick!
Who Do You Follow?

Where are we in this description? Where are we now? In the courtesy period! The wound of the sea-beast is healing… Few people today understand that the beast that has horns like a lamb is a beast. And the beast will never be a lamb!

This would be all sad, if the next picture did not talk about the 144.000 on Mount Zion. Those are the overcomers of the enraged dragon! They keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. They follow the Lamb wherever He goes! (14:4).

I have decided to follow the Lamb… Whom do you follow?
