Forgiveness is when we sincerely and lovingly say to the one who wronged us: You have sinned against me, but I promise to never hold that against you in whatever our relationship looks like moving forward.
“Forgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.”
“At the sight of our sin, God did not give way to uncontrolled rage…Instead, God bore our sin and condemned it in Jesus Christ…That’s how we should treat those who transgress against us. We should absorb the wrongdoing in order to transform the wrongdoers.” –Miraslov Volf, Free of Charge
Everyone experiences fear and worry from time to time. Have you ever wondered if the fear and worry your child or teenager experiences may be something more than "normal development" or "typical teenage angst"? In this workshop you will learn from licensed counselors how to recognize the signs and contributing factors of anxiety, helpful ways to intervene and respond to your child's needs and how to know if it's time to get more help. Childcare will be provided for children ages 5th grade and younger but you must register online.
Razor's Edge is the place where men and women at Christ Community are "sharpened" (Proverbs 27:17) and refined as leaders so that they are razor-sharp, prepared to lead with integrity of heart and skillful hands (Psalm 78:70-72) in the local church, in their community and in their world. This is a 11-week course offered every fall. Please register online.
Community Groups are designed to be a place where people can engage with others from our church on a more personal level than what Sunday mornings can afford. Groups meet weekly during our fall, winter, and spring sessions. We will be launching groups again in September. If you are interested in joining a group check out the website and fill out the Olathe Interest Form or contact Nikki Dieker at NikkiD@ChristCommunityKC.org.
Author and social critic Os Guinness is coming to Christ Community as part of our 30th Anniversary Celebration. He will address our current cultural moment and help us consider what a faithful presence looks like for Christians and churches. Childcare is available for children birth through Kindergarten, but you must register online.
