The Message of Christmas
Dr. Bill Langley
“An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, ‘Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.’” (Matthew 1:20-21 NIV)
1. Everybody needs to be saved.
“If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” (1 John 1:8 NIV)
2. Everybody can be saved.
“My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.” (1 John 2:1-2 NIV)
3. Everybody is saved the same way.
“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God…” (1 John 5:1 NIV)
4. Everybody who is saved can know it.
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13 NIV)
“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.” (Psalm 86:5 NLT)
