Generations Church
Ephesians Part 7
Ephesians is not necessarily an introductory book to the Christian faith. It does not deal with doctrinal or behavioral controversies like Corinthians or other books. It is a book that calls us to greater maturity in Christ and to go deeper in our understanding of our faith. In this series we will walk through each chapter of this great book. We will unpack the truths of worship, prayer, grace, reconciliation, family relationships, and spiritual warfare. We will hear the challenge that calls us to next level living! "Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:19 MSG

Our Purpose
Generations Church understands the Biblical purpose for its existence. We strive in every way to follow the commands of Scripture in the following areas:
We are a church that is based on the life and teachings of Jesus. He is central to our individual lives and to the life and ministry of our Church. 1 Peter 2:5-7
We are a church that believes in the Great Commission. From our local community to the most remote part of the world, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. Mark 16:15
We are a church that believes in the power of prayer. Prayer draws us close to God and impacts our lives and world. Luke 11:1
We are a church that is dependent on the power of the Holy Spirit to accomplish the instructions of our Lord and to live a life that is pleasing to God. Acts 1:8
Ephesians: Experiencing Next Level Living

Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:19 MSG

Previous Weeks:
Ephesians 1: Paul gives us 6 things to praise God for, and 4 things to pray for.
Ephesians 2: We read about what life was like before Christ, what God has done for man now through the work of His grace, and have a greater understanding of the church.
Ephesians 3: Paul explains to us what the Mystery of God is, and gives us 3 things to pray for.
Ephesians 4: Paul encourages us to live Holy lives in light of what Christ has done in us, and gives us some of the those behaviors that set us apart.
Ephesians 5: 6 things that should not be part of the life of a Christian; and Paul’s encouragement to “Be filled with the Spirit.”
Ephesians 5 and 6: Instructions are given on marriage, family, and our work relationships.
Preparing for Spiritual Battle

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-12

• Spiritual warfare is not against a human adversary where speed, strength, equipment, and tactics would matter.

• Spiritual warfare is a battle against unseen spiritual forces where prayer, fasting, knowing the scriptures, and being full of the Holy Spirit would make the difference.

Spiritual warfare can appear in our life in several ways:
• Random attacks
• Unusually timed temptations
• Prolonged and persistent trials
The Armor of God

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:13-17

Your "day of evil"
• "You will never be free of strongholds and addictions"
• "You have no value, you have no worth"
• "You are not good enough for what God expects of you"
• "You have sinned so many times there is no hope for you"
• "God is angry with you"
• "Don’t tell anyone what you are facing"
• He comes to us through depression and hopelessness.
Reminders to Pray!

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Ephesians 6:18-20

Spiritual warfare happens when we pray and when we go!

Pray in the Spirit

We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26-27

• "On all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests"
• "Always keep on praying"
• "Be fearless"
