<< JESUS IS BETTER! >>

Week 9:
"Better Than the Faithful"
(Hebrews 11)
Faith is our system of beliefs or who/what we trust to inform us and guide us.

Who/what is the object of your faith?
My faith rests in ____________.
The Bible writers declare God to be the only trustworthy object of our faith.

The believer's hope rests not in some fanciful tale, but rather in God's unchanging promises!
A life of faith involves…
1. Trusting when it appears to be indefensible.

Indefensible= Incapable of being justified, untenable, unable to be defended.

» Noah building the ark.
A life of faith involves…
1. Trusting when it appears to be indefensible.
2. Believing when it appears to be impossible.

Impossible = Incapable of being done or coming to pass.

» Abraham & Sarah having a baby
A life of faith involves…
1. Trusting when it appears to be indefensible.
2. Believing when it appears to be impossible.
3. Following when it appears to be unprofitable.

Unprofitable: Producing no gain or obvious good.

» Moses forsaking riches for an uncertain future.
The problem with all people of faith is… they leak!

A grave mistake many make is being merely observers of faith and not possessors of it.

My faith rests in EXAMPLES.
Jesus is Better Than the Faithful because…
1. Their view was incomplete, but ours is clear.

John 1:14-18
1 John 1:1
"beheld" = to look closely at, view intently, more than merely seeing

Jesus is Better Than the Faithful because…
1. Their view was incomplete, but ours is clear.
2. Their stories may bolster our faith, but Jesus is the basis for our faith.
3. Their efforts were flawed, but Jesus is flawless.

If the imperfections of another leads to your faithlessness… was your faith ever in Jesus to begin with?

4. Their stories are reminders of God's faithfulness.

Their cumulative efforts didn't land one of them in heaven, but Jesus' did!
