Glory in the Ordinary
We use the word ordinary in a number of ways; It can mean that things are normal or mundane, if things are a bit ordinary it means that things are not so good, or if things are pretty ordinary it means things are bad.

The birth of Jesus reminds us that God sent his glory into every kind of ordinary in our lives.
Ordinary
There was much about the birth of Jesus that was just plane ordinary, some parts were a bit ordinary and if you talked to Mary on the 150km+ Journey to Bethlehem she may have said it was pretty ordinary.
Glory
In the midst of the ordinary God makes it clear in the birth of Jesus the transcendent has become immanent, the supernatural has entered the natural, the divine has become human and glory has entered the ordinary.

As we celebrate Jesus birth we are reminded to see the glory of God in the midst of the ordinary of our lives.
Glory in the Ordinary
Glory is not just a noun that describes the nature of God, it is also a verb. Glory is something that we can do. To glory means to exalt, to rejoice, to worship.

The wise men worshipping the child Jesus remind us that even when things look ordinary, Jesus is worthy of worship and glory.

Life Group Discussion Questions Below

As our life groups gather this week, we have attached our reference verse and some questions to prompt a deeper discussion and search into this week's topic.

If you are not currently part of a life group, and would like to join a small group of like minded people in fellowship and connection during the week, please contact Nick on 0417472474 to register your interest.

Read through Luke 2:1-14
1. What aspects of Jesus birth were ordinary?
2. Is there anything in your life at the moment that you would describe as ordinary (normal/mundane), a bit ordinary (not so good), or pretty ordinary (bad)? Share these with the group.
3. Can you see God's glory in the midst of the ordinary in your life? If not what might it look like to shift your perspective to see it?
4. How will you not lose track of giving God glory (worship) in the midst of the ordinary business of the Christmas season?
