Romans 1:16-23 ESV
Four essential parts of the Gospel:
GOD — Who made us and to whom are we accountable?
MAN — What is our problem?
CHRIST — What is God’s solution to that problem?
RESPONSE — How do I come to be included in that salvation?
First things first: God is the AUTHOR of the Gospel (v. 16)
Romans 1:1-4 ESV
The Gospel Simply Put: The fulfilled promises of God in Jesus Christ to provide salvation for people by making us His Sons and Daughters.
God’s Gospel reveals His NATURE. (vv. 17-19)
God’s Gospel reveals His AUTHORITY. (vv. 20)

God’s Gospel reveals His HOLINESS. (vv. 21-23, 17)
Romans 1:20-23 ESV
Inditement of Romans 1:20-23:
· People “knew God” but “did not honor Him” (Romans 1:21).
· People “claimed to be wise” but were “fools” (Romans 1:22).
· People “exchanged” God’s glory for the worship of created things (Romans 1:23).
Who are we accountable to for all this?
GOD HIMSELF
Starting to Grasp the God Behind the Gospel:
· Align your thoughts about God with His Word about Himself.
· Examine your inner motivations and misconceptions.
· Repent of worshipping a man-made image of God.
To get the Gospel right, you must get God right.
