Chestnut Ridge Church
The Story of Us–Part 5
Throughout the pages of the Bible we see God's plan for humanity as revealed from Genesis to Revelation. Join us this summer for the series, The Story of Us. We will take a journey through the Bible and will learn that God not only created us, but that He wants to spend an eternity with us. The Bible is God's story. It is also the story of us.

The Story of Us [Part 5]—Tim Haring

Problem: What does Jesus mean to us today?
Solution: Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Today's Takeaway: Justice and mercy met at the cross, and mercy won.
Propitiation: The removal of divine wrath; Jesus’ death is the means that turns God’s wrath from the sinner.
Papyri receipts for taxes have been recovered with the word tetelestai written across them, meaning “paid in full.” This word on Jesus’ lips was significant. When He said, “It is finished” (not “I am finished”), He meant His redemptive work was completed. He had been made sin for people and had suffered the penalty of God’s justice which sin deserved.—Carson, D. A.
