APPLICATION QUESTIONS:
1. Share with the group lessons you have learned regarding prayer. What have been some of your ‘success’ and what have been some of your ‘disappointments’? How might your own prayer life be improved and what are some of your greatest challenges and obstacles to prayer?
2. In the following passages, why can it be said that prayer is a “divine necessity?” See Matthew 7:7-13 and Luke 11:1-2, with special attention to v. 2a.
3. Read Luke 11:5-10. How does this account compare to the one of the Persistent Widow? What similarities do you see and what encouragements are there for us?
4. Identify some of the “right” ways to approach God in prayer. Review the following Scriptures as you respond: 1 Chronicles 28:9; 2 Chronicles 34:27; Luke 18:9-14; Colossians 4:2.
5. Identify some of the “wrong” ways to approach God in prayer, or things that hinder one’s prayer life. Review the following Scriptures as you respond: Psalm 139:13-14; Proverbs 28:9; Isaiah 59:2; 1 Peter 3:7-8; James 4:1-4.
6. What does it mean ‘to pray at all times’? How can we apply passages such as Psalm 116:2, Ephesians 6:18, and 1 Thessalonians 5:17?
