Hope for Healing
Too often we feel trapped, trapped in our sin, trapped in our illness, trapped in our situation. But Jesus came to offer us freedom, to offer us hope, to offer us healing. This morning we embrace the new life that he offers and embrace his command to stand up and walk.

Jesus asks a pivotal question: “Do you want to be healed?”
The man faced some risks if he was made well.
Too many see ourselves in the same place as the lame beggar, but we feel so alone. It seems like you look around and you feel like you’re the only one struggling.
The problem for many of us is that we feel alone, lost in our sin, lost in our pain, lost in our sickness. We feel like we’re so alone.
For some of us, we hold onto things for so long because, when Jesus asks “Do you want to be well?” in our heart of hearts we say “No.”
Jesus gives three commands:
- Stand up
- Pick up your mat.
- Walk
The man not only had to want to be made well, but he had to believe that when Jesus said, “Stand up. Pick up your mat, and walk,” that it meant that he really could do that.
The Good News for us today is that we don’t have to be a slave anymore.
