Alpha // Free Dinner!
Just come and see! If you have questions about life or the Christian faith, just come and see what Alpha is all about! Check it all out before you decide if you want to attend for the remainder of the sessions. Maybe you're not seeking, then invite someone else to come and see! We all know people...whether it's a co-worker, a friend, or even a spouse...who doubts Christianity or has questions. Alpha is the perfect place for them to come, be welcomed, and express their opinions. They are not our projects, but as people who are dearly loved by Jesus, we want to love them too! Alpha is just another mechanism for it. For more information and to sign up go to zionclearlake.org/alpha.
Discovering Journey Class
Jesus' final command in the Gospel is to “go and make disciples” (Matt. 28:19). But what does it mean to be a disciple and even more, how do we make people disciples?
Pastor Jason would like to invite you to join him this summer to Discovering Journey. Journey Groups are the primary way we make disciples here at Zion. This 11 week class is an accelerated approach for those who’d like to know and grow in Christ and understand what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. Discovering Journey starts this week, Wednesday, June 12th from 5:30-6:30 PM.

#ZIONatthePARK // Memorial Day-Labor Day
We are excited to transition into the summer with Zion at the Park!
Our summer ZATP services will be held at 10:00 AM.
We are also excited to offer a few features for families! Every Sunday, there will be "parent resources" offered in the gazebo in the back of the park. If you don't get a chance to grab one before service, ZKids Leaders will be passing some out before the message!
Feel free to swing by before or during service to provide something new and different for your kids!
Also, this summer we are excited to offer THREE Sundays with Preschool Child Care (ages 1-5 only):
We ask for parents to check-in and bring preschoolers to the Lakeview Room (the backside of the Bandshell). There will be signs for check-in by the Zion Information Booth as well as the gazebo.
In the event of rain or other weather conditions, we will have a regular service at the Dock (500 Main Ave), which will also be at 10:00 AM. Signs will be posted at the Park in the event of a venue change. We will also notify you of any changes the morning of service on the Zion website (www.zionclearlake.org), the Zion Facebook page (Zion - Clear Lake, IA),
or ZMail. There will not be child care or nursery inside.
Foster Family Support
Do you have a heart for those in foster care and the families that take in children? We are looking for people that may be interested in brainstorming ways we can do something to help! Contact Megan Dennis by June 21st if you are interested. We'll schedule a time to meet as we pray for families and share ideas of help.
How Much You Matter To God! - Derek Crawford // ZYouth Pastor
The first way to know that we matter to God is the simple fact that we are not expected to do life alone
Acts 2:44-47 All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
John 14:15-17 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you.
John 14:26-27 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and remind you of all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
The second way to know that we matter to God is to look at the idea of new creation
Galatians 2:19-20 For through the law I died to the law, so that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
The third way to know that we matter to God is through Relationship and Kingdom building
2 Corinthians 5:17-21 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
The final way to know that we matter to God is Jesus’ death on the Cross
John 15:12-17 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.
