Chestnut Ridge Church
The Story of Us–Part 1
Throughout the pages of the Bible we see God's plan for humanity as revealed from Genesis to Revelation. Join us this summer as we begin our new series, The Story of Us. We will take a journey through the Bible and will learn that God not only created us, but that He wants to spend an eternity with us. The Bible is God's story. It is also the story of us.

The Story of Us [Part 1]—Tim Haring

Problem: Does it really matter that God created us?
Solution: We matter to God.
The reason He created us: for relationship
"Being in God’s image means that humans share, though imperfectly and finitely, in God’s nature, that is, in His communicable attributes (life, personality, truth, wisdom, love, holiness, justice), and so have the capacity for spiritual fellowship with Him." –A.P. Ross
“This is distinctive from other ancient world religions that had myths of creation involving a “creative word” but did not tie that act to any subsequent history. In the biblical text, the God of history who interacts with His people is the same God who spoke the world into existence.” –Holman’s
The way He created us: with TLC
"The word 'formed' describes the work of an artist. Like a potter shaping an earthen vessel from clay, so God formed man from clay. Man was made by divine plan." –A.P. Ross
"The crown of God’s handiwork is human life."–K.A. Matthews
The authority He gave us: to rule
• The reason God created us: to have a relationship with him
• The way He created us: with TLC
• The job He entrusted to us: to manage the earth
Today's Takeaway: We matter to God.
