Objection #1 – If God’s grace abounds when we sin, then let’s continue sinning so we might experience more grace.
Objection#2 - If we are no longer under the Law, then we are free to live as we please.
1. I was bought with CHRIST'S BLOOD.
2. I have been delivered out of the DOMINION OF SIN.
3. I was saved from the BONDAGE OF SIN.
“Whatever controls us is our lord. The person who seeks power is controlled by power. The person who seeks acceptance is controlled by acceptance. We do not control ourselves; we are controlled by the lord of our lives.”
Rebecca Pippert – Out of the Saltshaker
“Christianity asserts that every individual human is going to live forever, and this must be either true of false. Now there are a good many things which would not be worth bothering about if I were going to live only seventy years, but which I had better bother about very seriously if I am going to live forever. Perhaps my bad temper or my jealousy are gradually getting worse – so gradually that the increase in seventy years will not be very noticeable. But it might be absolute hell in a million years: in fact, if Christianity is true, hell is the precisely technical term for what it would be.”
C.S. Lewis - Mere Christianity
SANCTIFICATION is the process whereby the believer becomes more and more like Jesus (grow in holiness) as a result of GOD’S WORK in them and THEIR OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD.
The Ten Commandments - Standard of Righteousness under the Law
1. No other Gods but me
2. No idols to bow down to or worship
3. Don’t misuse the name of the Lord your God
4. Remember and keep the Sabbath day holy
5. Respect your Father & Mother
6. Don’t commit murder
7. Don’t commit adultery
8. Don’t steal
9. Don’t give false evidence against your neighbor
10. Don’t desire or be envious of anything your neighbor has (house, spouse, kids or car)
The Great Commandment - Standard of Righteousness under Grace
Matthew 22:37-39 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
You can fulfill the commands of the Bible better by FALLING IN LOVE with God than by TRYING TO OBEY everything in your own strength.
Sin is a master who always pays ON TIME AND IN FULL. The wages he pays is DEATH!
Where there is no FRUIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, there is no ROOT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS.
