Message #7: "The Disciple's Honor: Rewards"
I Corinthians 3.10-17
I. One day, if Jesus delays His return, every disciple, or believer in Christ will find their life has come to an end. Along with that comes the inevitability that every one of us as believers in Christ will stand before our Lord to give an accounting for the life we have lived here below.

II. How can we make sure we will stand before Christ on the day of judgment with our heads held high? Fortunately, the answer is very simple: by abiding, or, as John put it, “remain in Him.”—in practical terms, what that means is that we live in such a way as to allow Christ to be “at home in our hearts.”

III. The degree to which I live like Jesus will determine the degree to which I will one day be rewarded by our Lord; every one of us who believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord will be judged according to the QUALITY of the life we have built on the foundation of Jesus Christ.
IV. If I seek to live my life as a true disciple of Jesus, my reward will be three-fold: (1) at the end of my life, I will receive the reward of knowing my time was well spent.

V. How sad will it be for some believers to come to the end of their lives, only to look upon them and see that their testimony made things worse, not better for the Kingdom of God!

VI. This “spiritual house”, or sanctuary/temple is the dwelling place of God, and the place from which spiritual worship is offered to the glory of God.

VII. If I live my life as a disciple of Jesus only for myself, instead of for Jesus, then I will find at the end of my life that my time lived here below was an absolute waste! I will find that not only did I insure that my personal life and testimony was destroyed as a result, but that I also contributed to the destruction of God’s work through His Church!
VIII. The second aspect of my reward for living as a disciple of Jesus, is that I will receive the reward of seeing that my life was well invested. In living our daily lives, are we making it possible for the generations that follow, should Jesus delay His return, to be benefited by what God is doing through us?

IX. Heaven only knows the impact our witness will have, both today, and in generations to come!
X. At the judgment, when I stand before Jesus, and give an account of how I lived as His disciple while here on Earth, I will receive the reward of hearing my Lord say, "Well done.”
