When Everything Falls Apart | How to Pray When Everything Falls Apart

When Everything Falls Apart | How to Pray When Everything Falls Apart

No matter how hard we try, we can’t always keep setbacks and struggles at bay. And sometimes, just when we thought we had this whole “life” thing figured out…everything falls apart. That’s how the first followers of Jesus must have felt when he was arrested and crucified. But Jesus knew everything that was coming…and before it happened, he taught his followers a series of crucial lessons about living with hope and courage when everything falls apart.

John 16:19-20

BUT your grief will turn to JOY!
God works in the wrong things.

James 1:2

Pain is inevitable...despair is optional.
Proverbs 13:12 says,
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick…”
“My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and come to an end without hope…where now is my hope? And who regards my hope?...He breaks me down on every side, and I am gone, He has uprooted my hope like a tree…”
“Why are you in despair, My soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”

“I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”
Romans 8:28 says,
“…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose…”
God works in the wrong things on behalf of those who love Him and are following Him on mission.

John 16:21

John 16:22

John 16:23

John 16:24

“Blessed be the name of the Lord. The Lord gives and the Lord takes away. I will not accept only the blessings. I will choose in this time of pain to trust Him to give me JOY.”
“When her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of the joy that a child is born.” (John 16:21b)
JOY is the right thing to pray for when the WRONG things come.
