Matthew 28:19-20
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

“Right Now Counts Forever”

1 Peter 4:7-11
“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

“The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers.”

Listen to what the passage is calling us to…
v. 10 “as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

What does its mean to be a steward?
To be a steward means that all that we have and are in this life we have been entrusted with to manage, but it doesn’t belong to us.

Everything Belongs To God and Nothing Belongs To Me

Psalm 24:1
“The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein.”

We belong to God, He created us, and our lives belong to him.

Psalm 100:3
“Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

1 Corinthians 3:18-23
“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is folly with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their craftiness,’ and again, ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.’ So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”

Romans 14:8
“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.”

As believers we belong to God because our lives have been redeemed (purchased) by Jesus Christ.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

Romans 12:1
“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

The problem is we are inclined to a natural drift from stewardship to ownership

1 Peter 4:10-11
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies— in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

How do we become good stewards for the glory of God?

Be A Good Steward Of The TRUTH

Be A Good Steward Of Your TIME

Ephesians 5:15-16
“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”

3 Fold Recipe from Ephesians 5

- Be Wise
- Do your best

Be A Good Steward Of Your TALENT

1 Peter 4:10-11
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

Hebrews 10:24
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.”

1 Corinthians 14:12
“…strive to excel in building up the church.”

1 Corinthians 10:31
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

Romans 12:3-6
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…”

1 Corinthians 12:4-7
“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

Be A Good Steward Of Your TREASURE

2 Corinthians 8:2-4
“…for in a severe test of affliction, their abundance of joy and their extreme poverty have overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part. For they gave according to their means, as I can testify, and beyond their means, of their own accord, begging us earnestly for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints.”

How can we all excel in this grace of giving?
- Give from what we have. (vs. 3, 12)
- Give from the heart. (8:3-4)
- Give to the Lord. (8:5)
- Give through the church. (8:1, 5)
- Give with a plan. (9:3-5)
- Give generously. (9:6, 11)

2 Corinthians 9:6
“The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.”

2 Corinthians 9:11
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”

What will happen when we are generous givers?
- Others are helped. (9:1-5)
- We are encouraged. (9:6-12)
- God is glorified. (9:13)

2 Corinthians 9:13
“By their approval of this service, they will glorify God because of your submission that comes from your confession of the gospel of Christ, and the generosity of your contribution for them and for all others.”

1 Peter 4:10, 11
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace…in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
