Baptism Sunday [Engage Series]—Tim Haring
Problem: People don't understand the symbol of the faith: baptism

Solution: Go public with your faith through baptism
What does baptism symbolize?
It’s a picture of a death and resurrection.
It’s a picture of the cleansing we experience through Christ.
It’s a picture of our new life in Christ.
It’s a picture of being “all in” for Christ.
It’s a picture of being placed into the body of Christ.

A scholar by the name of R.E.O. White explains it this way:

"The Greek root-word baptizein means to plunge, immerse, sink; hence to wash…From Jewish rules of purification concerning ritual uncleanness the word gained a technical religious connotation implying “purification” from all that might exclude from God’s presence."
"This conception of the baptismal pool as a grave in which the pre-Christian self and its ways are buried once and for all and from which a new self rises to a new quality of living…"—R.E.O. White
Our vision: To be an inviting church that leads people into a growing relationship with God and others.
