Why spend 40 days focusing on spiritual growth?

Because most of the problems in our lives come from spiritual immaturity.
The Bible tells us that growth is God's will for your life.

“Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.”

Ephesians 4:14-15 (NLT)
Biblical Principles for Spiritual Growth…
Study the Word of God

“People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Matthew 4:4 (NLT)
Prayer

"Prayer makes a godly man, and puts within him the mind of Christ, the mind of humility, of self-surrender, of service, of pity, and of prayer. If we really pray, we will become more like God, or else we will quit praying."

E.M. Bounds
Fellowship

“When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.”

Romans 1:12 (NLT)
Service

“Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.”

Philippians 2:3-4 (NLT)
In this 40 day focus God may call you to be the answer to someone’s prayer.

“I was circumcised when I was eight days old. I am a pure-blooded citizen of Israel and a member of the tribe of Benjamin—a real Hebrew if there ever was one! I was a member of the Pharisees, who demand the strictest obedience to the Jewish law. 6 I was so zealous that I harshly persecuted the church. And as for righteousness, I obeyed the law without fault.
7 I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him.”

Philippians 3:5-8 (NLT)
