Life in the 21st Century is marked by noise pollution and hectic schedules.
Is that a picture of your life?
In the above verses Jesus is busy with healings and teaching. He was growing in popularity and people were swarming around him. The pressures of his ministry are growing.
We sometimes use the term “Centering” to describe our need to calm our emotions and slow our mind and our breathing.
Clearly we need to center ourselves spiritually. So what did Jesus do?
If Jesus needed to slow down and spend time in prayer, to commune with His Father, so should we. Jesus is our model.
Please use your imagination for the following:
1. Imagine a space where there would be no human sounds.

2. Imagine a time or space where you can sit and simply be still.

In the Bible there are examples where people, under the shade of a tree, without our modern noise pollution, heard God’s whisper. God wants to speak to us too, but it happens best when we find that whisper place where we are alone with God, separated from schedules and noise. Why does God whisper and not shout? Because God wants to be in relationship. To sit down and spend time, to learn His heart and mind. Then we can hear God’s whispers.

Where and when can you find that time and space in your life?

When you do, try meditating on Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God.”
