Title: A Disciple Who's Ready for Monday Builds Their Life on the Bible
Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:7-18
Speaker: Reid Kapple, ReidK@ChristCommunityKC.org

>> Monday doesn’t make sense without a story.
>> Admit You Need a Better Story
“Without some such symbolic structure by which hope is expressed, one would be…’a kind of formless monster with neither sense of direction nor power of self-control, a chaos of spasmodic impulses and vague emotions.’ We must imagine some end to life that transcends our own tiny allotment of days and hours if we are to keep at bay the dim, back-of-the-mind suspicion that one may be adrift in an absurd world.” -Andrew Delbanco (The Real American Dream)
>> See Everything Through God’s Story
Creation (Ought)
2 Corinthians 4:6
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (ESV)

Fall (Is)
2 Corinthians 4:4
In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. (ESV)

Redemption (Can)
2 Corinthians 4:10
always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. (ESV)

New Creation (Will)
2 Corinthians 4:16–17
So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, (ESV)

“She can declare hope amid despair, and eternal values in light of temporal struggles. In America, I know no better witness of this than the historic black church...When their churches burned to the ground by the flames of legalized racism, they sang about a new home over in glory that is “mine.” When their neighborhoods were left unsupported and their humanity disrespected, they preached that the sufferings of this present time are incomparable with the glory to come. And in their sermons were the groans awaiting relief.” -Charlie Dates
>> Build Your Monday On His Story
- Read His Story
- Respond to His Story

After we read the bible we should ask the question SO WHAT?

Who is God calling me to Serve? (love, forgive)
What is God calling me to Omit? (repent, give up)
How is he calling me to Worship? (honor God, delight in God)
What is he calling me to Hold onto? (keep doing, keep going)
What is he calling me to Adore? (enjoy, value, appreciate)
How is he calling me to be Thankful? (gratitude towards God or others)
