Matthew 7:24–27
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

An illustration with one point:
The Wise Person Builds On The Rock

Just like building a house building a life is totally dependent on the foundation.

So, let’s repeat the lesson from this last illustration from Jesus’ sermon—The wise person builds on the rock!

Why?
In the storms of life your foundation will either make you or break you!

Again, let’s remember the principle lesson of Jesus in this part of the sermon—The wise person builds their house on the rock!

We need to ask the most important question related to that statement—how do we build on the rock?

When we listen, learn and live according to God’s Word we build on the Rock!

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them.”
“And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them.”

He says that the person who is building on the rock is the person who not only hears his words but put them into practice.

James 1:22
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”

John 8:31
“So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We must look at our lives and see if we are just hearing God’s word, or actually doing what it says.

Matthew 7:24-25
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."

Here is the summary of Jesus’ words:
If the Foundation of life is faulty, then we don’t stand a chance in this life—or in the next.

Matthew 7:26-27
“And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

What Is The True Foundation Of Your Life?

Bruce Barton
“Most people do not deliberately seek to build on a false or inferior foundation; instead, they just don’t think about their life’s purpose. Many people are headed for destruction, not out of stubbornness but out of thoughtlessness.”

- We will find forgiveness for past sins.
- We will find strength for the present.
- We will find hope for the future.
