Giving

We give as an expression of worship and a display of our relationship with Jesus Christ. We give as God desires, with gratitude and a cheerful heart, for He tells us in 2 Corinthians 9 that “each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give; not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Resentment is a lingering feeling of anger, bitterness, or displeasure caused by a perceived unfairness, insult, or pastwrong.
Three ways bitterness captures the heart.
l. Bitterness distorts your perspective.
Bitterness makes you see people through their past.
2. Bitterness holds onto the offense.
-Bitterness reveals a wounded heart.
“What do I need to stop rehearsing so I can start healing?”
lll. Bitterness becomes self-destructive.
When we hold onto bitterness, it begins to affect every area of our lives.
-Our peace
-Our joy
-Our relationships
-Our spiritual life
-Our emotional health
-Our future
How do you kill the root of bitterness?
How’s your heart?

Has my anger become bitterness?
Have I allowed my hurt to change the way I see God?
Am I seeing this person only through what they did to me?
Am I holding onto something God is asking me to surrender?
Is my anger producing the kind of heart God wants me to have?
