This Series

Our desire for this study has been that, as we grow in our understanding of the book of Exodus, we would also grow in our understanding of how amazing God is, and therefore want to live for His glory and share His glory with others.

God gave the Nation of Israel a mission.

The mission that God gives the nation of Israel is to build Him a physical sanctuary - a structure that would allow the holy presence of God to dwell directly in the midst of His chosen people; and that would also allow His chosen people to worship Him properly.

God has given us a mission.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (28:19-20)

God has provided for us a plan as to how we are to be carrying out this mission of making living sanctuaries.

What is a contribution?

The Hebrew word that was originally used here is one that refers to something that a person separates from their belongings and lifts up as a sacrifice to someone or something else.

God instructed the nation of Israel to carry out the mission of building a sanctuary for him by separating different items from their belongings.

God gives us every good gift that we have. As the Giver of these good and perfect things, God’s expectation of us is to take them and contribute them to the carrying out of His mission.
