Title: "Disappointed" (06-21-26)

The Point:
Cropped: God Will Confront You with Your Sin in Heaven
Completed: You Will Receive Your Rewards in Heaven

Object Lesson: The accolades you get when you graduate.
** Icebreaker - What award have you gotten that you're most proud of? **
Prior to learning about the Bema seat and the Great White Throne this Sunday, what was your understanding of the judgement of Christ followers?Did you think that your sins would be played back in front of you?
Focus Verse. Have someone read Matthew 16:27 - "For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done."
Have 3 different people read that focus verse 3 more times. Each time, have everyone else close their eyes and picture the glory and majesty of that moment.
Sean asked three questions that we should ponder as we consider that "graduation is coming" - which means that we will all "graduate" from this life to the next (we all die!) Let's discuss.
1. Graduation is coming - which chair will you stand before? Have someone read John 5:24.
A. Do you have any doubt which chair you will stand before when you die or Jesus returns? In other words, do you know with certainty that you will be in front of the bema seat (and be welcomed into heaven), rather than be judged and sent to eternal punishment?

B. If you're not sure, re-read John 5:24 and also read Romans 10:9. If you are ready to confess that Jesus is Lord and that he died and rose again, take some time to pray with the group.
2. Graduation is coming - which goal are you pursuing? Have someone read 1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
** C. In which of the following areas are you not fully pursuing God? Your finances - Your relationships - Your life goals or your job - Your entertainment choices - Your free time **

D. Starting tomorrow, what will you change so that you are one step closer to fully pursuing God?
3. Graduation is coming - which rewards will you receive? Have someone read 1 Corinthians 3:10-15.
** E. In what areas of your life are you building a solid foundation? Share some things you do or have done that will not burn up in the fire on judgement day. **

F. What is something in your life that isn't necessarily bad, but has no eternal value? Is there something of eternal value that you can replace it with, or is there a way to make that thing have eternal value?
Prayer 4U - Draw names from a hat. Pray for your person that they would start to fully pursue God this week and that they would have the strength and courage to trust God in their decision to let go of things that have no eternal value.
Guided Prayer - (Leader, include the following in your prayer time). Father, thank you for sending your son to take the judgement and punishment for our sins. Help us to live lives that constantly reflect our gratitude for his sacrifice. Give us hearts and minds that desire only what is pleasing and glorifying to you. And give us courage to tell others about your redeeming grace so that they will never have to face the Great White Throne. In Jesus' name, Amen.
