Genesis 27 – Trust in God Instead of Taking Matters Into Our Own Hands

No matter how good we think our goals are, we should not attempt to achieve them by doing what is wrong.
How many times do we tend to take matters into our own hands when it seems like God is delaying His promises or not fulfilling them the way we saw it happening?
We are responsible to make our own decisions about what is presented before us. We can’t simply blame others or say we were coerced to do obvious sins.
How we react to a moral dilemma often exposes our real motives.
Are you more worried about getting caught than about doing what is right?
If you are worried about getting caught, you are probably in a position that is less than honest. Let your fear of getting caught be a warning to do right. - LASB Notes
•When Isaac doubted his voice, Jacob lied and said,
o“I am Esau” (first lie)
o“Your firstborn” (second lie)
o“I have done as you told me” (third lie)
o“Eat some of my game” (fourth lie)
•When Isaac thought he was back too quickly, Jacob lied
oJacob used God in his lie. “The Lord your God gave me success” (fifth lie)
•Jacob asked again in vs 24, “Are you really my son Esau?”
o“I am” Jacob replied (the 6th lie)
Stop any lies before they start. Honesty, although sometimes difficult is always best and can break cycles of deception.
Start with being honest with yourself, honest with God, and honest with others.
Lying will always lead to more and more lies and deceit and will be harder and harder to recover from.
Decide today to be a person that speaks and deals with honesty and integrity!
Jealous anger blinds us from seeing our own faults. Take a moral inventory of your life and ask if a poor decision, mistake, or sin is the real reason you are harboring jealous anger toward someone.
Lying will always lead to the domino effect of more and more lying and deception.
Decide today to be a person that speaks and deals with honesty and integrity!
Meat cooked in the microwave is never as good as meat slow cooked in the crockpot.
We must remember to trust God and His promises and timing.
God isn’t asking you to have it all figured out. He’s asking you to trust that He has it all figured out so follow Him.
