Fan The Flame Of God's Gift
Fan The Flame Of God's Gift
1. Fanning the flame is feeding the flame
The gift that God has given Timothy is what is to be fed
Courage is not being ashamed
Timothy acted, but God's power was the decisive cause
God took a young, timid, fearful man and indwelled him with maturity, confidence, and courage

3. How to feed the flame
Every single letter that Paul writes begins with some form of the words "grace to you." And every single one of them ends with some form of the words "grace be with you."
God has ordained that His sovereign grace comes to us with Holy Spirit power for unashamed courage through His Holy Word.

God in His infinite and perfect wisdom makes the flame of His gift depend on our feeding and makes our feeding depend on His grace
The grace of God that awakened, sustains, strengthens and feeds the flame of God's gifts in us was given "in Christ Jesus before the ages began."
God, for all eternity, has planned to be gracious to you
