RECAP: Are you a true crimes podcast junkie? These series have been very popular over the past few years, but they hold nothing against the stories in the Bible. In our March series, we are looking at true tales of people in the Bible of murder & manipulation, from scandal to second chances. We will see that God offers redemption and restoration to everyone, even the rebels and riff-raff. These tales of old are still relevant and heed warnings for our lives today.
You can read the stories of this series in the Scriptures below:
Jael - Judges 4-5
Jacob - Genesis 27-35
Ahab & Jezebel - 1 Kings 16-22
Saul/Paul - Acts 7 & 9, 13-28

QUESTIONS:
1)Do you listen to True Crimes podcasts or watch those shows?
2)Read 1 Corinthians 10:6, 11 & 12. What are your thoughts on these verses?
3)Some of these stories reflect a cycle in the Hebrew people where they would turn from God, experience the consequences, and finally turn back to Him. How have you seen that pattern in your life or others? How should we respond to seeing that pattern in our past or these “True Crime” stories in the Scriptures?
4)In the life of Jacob, we see crimes committed against everyone he encounters. We see pride and ambition in some of the other stories. How have you experienced that in your life and what were the consequences of that focus?
5)The Bible says pride goes before the fall. With that in mind, what does it look like to live a life of humility?
6)Paul, who was Saul, calls himself the worst of all sinners. Yet we see he experiences God’s full redemption and his life is restored with purpose. How can that bring us hope for our lives?
