Sermon Title: You did what?!?

Soon the news reached the apostles and other believers in Judea that the Gentiles had received the word of God. - Acts 11:1

What news? Salvation, the baptism in the Holy Spirit, the baptism in water, has all come to the GENTILES!

But when Peter arrived back in Jerusalem, the Jewish believers criticized him. 3 “You entered the home of Gentiles and even ate with them!” they said. - Acts 11:2

Acts 11:3, the ESV doesn’t use the term “Gentiles,” it uses “uncircumcised men.”

The term in the greek is “akrobustian” which means “foreskinned”

They were harshly criticizing Peter because He would dare enter the house of gentiles and eat with these gentiles, and then welcome these gentiles in the faith.

When the others heard this, they stopped objecting and began praising God. They said, “We can see that God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of repenting of their sins and receiving eternal life.” - Acts 11:18

- Everyone deserves to hear the gospel.
Romans 3:23, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

Romans 5:8, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

- Jesus is still the only way to salvation.
John 14:6, “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

Acts 4:12, “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Ephesians 2:8-9, “God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God...”

“Jesus saves,” and if you are a believer that is our message!

“Jesus saves,” and if you are not a believer, then this is your only hope!
