DESCRIPTION: How do our prayers work? Do they change God's mind? If God has already determined what He will do, why is it important for us to pray? In this week's message, we’ll explore Acts 12 and how the early church’s fervent prayers led to miraculous deliverance for the Apostle Peter from prison and strengthened their faith in God’s sovereignty. While we don't always understand the mysteries of how prayer works, God responds powerfully to the prayers of His people. When we commit to the work of prayer, we will experience the delivering and transforming power of God at work in us.
I. When the pressure rises, so must our prayers
We must meet the pressures of our day with a rising commitment to
prayer.
“Let the fires go out in the boiler room of the church and the place will
still look smart and clean, but it will be cold. The Prayer Room is the boiler
room for its spiritual life.” Leonard Ravenhill
II. God's deliverance prevails in response to our prayers
Deliverance is an act of God that involves our participation.
Deliverance is an act of God in response to prayer
III. Prayer is a powerful labor of love we accomplish TOGETHER
PRAYER is a TEAM ACTIVITY
“Prayer in its highest form is agonizing soul sweat.” - Leonard Ravenhill
“The Church has not yet touched the fringe of the possibilities of
intercessory prayer. Her largest victories will be witnessed when
individual Christians everywhere come to recognize their priesthood unto
God and day by day give themselves unto prayer.” - John R. Mott
IV. God's protection prevails
Prayer frustrates the powers of darkness... and strengthens the forces of
light.
V. Let us dedicate ourselves to the work of prayer because we have a
powerful God
