1. Divine Ordination of Authority:
- All authority comes from God (v. 1).
- God establishes governments for order and justice.

When we recognize that authority is part of God's divine plan, we can see that these institutions serve a purpose—guiding and protecting us, much like traffic lights help us navigate our roads safely.

Trusting in God's sovereignty over these authorities allows us to navigate the complexities of life with peace, knowing that He is ultimately in control.

2. Our Response to Authority:
- We are called to submit to governing authorities (v. 2).
- Recognize God's sovereignty over human institutions.

3. Trusting God Amidst Authority:
- Place your ultimate trust in God, even when earthly leaders fail.

II. God’s Sovereignty in Governance (Daniel 2:19-21)

1. God Reveals Mysteries:
- God revealed Nebuchadnezzar’s dream to Daniel (v. 19).
- God is aware of the inner workings of nations and leaders.

2. God’s Control Over Times and Seasons:
- God determines kings and their reigns (v. 21).
- God’s plan unfolds according to His timing, not ours.

3. Building Trust Through Understanding:
- Trust in God’s authority and plan.

How Should I Respond?

Living Out Our Trust in God

1. Active Faith:
- Live out your faith actively, engaging in the political process while trusting God’s sovereignty.
- Pray for leaders and governments (Power Text: 1 Timothy 2:1-2).

2. Being Witnesses of Trust:
- Be examples of trust in God, especially in a polarized society.
- Our trust in God can lead our community to Jesus.

3. Finding Peace in God’s Trustworthiness:
- Practical steps for deepening trust in God (prayer, study of Scripture, community).
Power Text: (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
1First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
Final Thoughts
God is always in control, and we can find rest in that assurance.

Various versions of the following have been floating around social media for the last couple of weeks:

After the Election we can know
· God is still on His throne
o A.W. Tozer said, “While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.”
· No matter who is president, Jesus is still the King of kings and Lord of lords
· The Bible still has the answers to our problems
· Prayer still works
· God will still be with us always
