Jonah - Week 1
“City of Blood”
September 8, 2024
Matt Mizell
Fictional or factual, the lessons from Jonah are still __________________________.
(Romans 10:17, James 1:22, Jonah 1:1, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)
Will your kids be _____________________ up or _____________________ up because of you?
(Jonah 1:2, Nahum 3:1-4 NLT)
Have you ever done the _____________________ of what God _____________________ you to do?
(Jonah 1:3)
_____________________
Go Deeper:
1. If God were to give you a new name based on your reputation, what do you think your name would be? What would you want your new name to be?
2. Read the description of Nineveh in Nahum 3:1-4. Which of these characteristics do you feel are evident in our society today?
3. Jonah was not okay with the idea of going to Nineveh. What has God asked you to do in the past that you disagreed with?
4. Have you ever ran away from God? Why? Have you ever done the opposite of what God asked? Why?
5. Are you surprised that Jonah, a prophet of the Lord, did the exact opposite of what God commanded him? Why or why not?
6. To go even deeper with this week’s sermon, join a Hills Group to discuss the questions above with other people in our community. To join or lead a Hills Group, visit hillschurchnm.com/connect.
