Home Group/Study Questions
These questions are provided for your further study and application of today’s sermon. Thoughtfully writing out the answers to these questions will help to drive home the truths we are learning.
1. Was there any passage of scripture or statement in the message today that was particularly meaningful or applicable to you?
2. Read Psalm 13. Can you remember a time when you were frustrated that God was not answering your prayers, that it seemed He had forgotten you? When news came to Jesus of Lazarus’ illness, how did Jesus respond (John 11:5-6)? Why?
3. Read what happened when Jesus met Martha and Mary as He neared Bethany in vv.17-32. How were their reactions the same? How were they different? How did Jesus respond to each of them?
4. Jesus dealt with the disciples’ fears and Martha and Mary’s grief. They all felt safe to express their feelings honestly, and He did not scold or shame them. Read Psalm 56:8, Hebrews 4:14-16, and 1 Peter 5:7. What do these verses say about God’s understanding and our freedom to express ourselves to Him?
5. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), and the soul that sins shall surely die (Ezekiel 18:20). Read Romans 5:12 and Hebrews 9:27. If you sum up the heart of these passages you could restate them as, “Death is certain, no one escapes; and Death is final.” This is a bleak and terrifying truth…until you read the whole passages around each verse. Take a few minutes to go to each passage and write the promise associated with each one.

Giving Online
Giving cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances is part of our worship. (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10)
We thank those who have helped us fulfill our mission and vision, and we ask you to pray that all of the giving to West End Baptist Church would be used to glorify God in carrying out His will as Scripture instructs and the Holy Spirit leads.
