The Power of the Tongue

You may have heard the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” This all-too-common saying is far from true. The fact is our words do matter and they matter greatly. Our words have the power to hurt people or help people. Additionally, James tells us that our words reveal the condition of our heart. --- In the Christian life there is to be an inseparable connection between faith and action. As we study the book of James, we will see how genuine faith manifests itself in tangible deeds and righteous living, not just in empty words or beliefs. James urges believers to demonstrate their faith through acts of humility, compassion, justice, and love, highlighting that true faith is evidenced by transformed lives and active obedience to God’s word.
