While there are many things competing for our attention and heart's affection in this world, God desires that we seek Him first and put Him above all else. Believing loyalty is what God desires and what God deserves from those who belong to His family through faith in Jesus Christ. The first commandment postures our heart before God and enables us to live with the proper motives and behaviors to love and obey God. --- Many people are looking for a life of hope, freedom, and blessing. The law of God is often viewed as a list of do’s and don’ts, but it is actually God’s guide for us to experience a life of freedom filled with blessing. The ten commandments are not only God’s code of conduct for a moral life, but they help us see our need for Jesus and show us how we can live a life filled with hope.
