The Great Commandment

The Great Commandment

The law of God is summarized by Jesus when He says we are to love God with our whole being and love our neighbor as ourself. But what exactly does loving God and loving others really look like? How can we best live out God’s desire for our lives? The key to fulfilling the great commandment is found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. We love God and love others the way God desires by living in obedience to the law of God motivated by our love for God. We will see how the law of God is still relevant to the Christian life, and how the law of God can lead to a life of joy, freedom, and God’s blessing. --- Many people are looking for a life of hope, freedom, and blessing. The law of God is often viewed as a list of do’s and don’ts, but it is actually God’s guide for us to experience a life of freedom filled with blessing. The ten commandments are not only God’s code of conduct for a moral life, but they help us see our need for Jesus and show us how we can live a life filled with hope.

Through a relationship with Jesus, we can fulfill the law of God. Obedience to the law is how we express our love for God. The law of God teaches us to love God and to love others the way God desires. Romans 13:8 says, “Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.”
