The Disciple's Prayer, Pt. 2
MATTHEW 6:11-13 ESV
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
THE REASON FOR THE SERIES: To instill confidence or to stir up a renewed passion for personal prayer.
Three Personal Petitions
1) Bring your needs to God (v. 11).
INSIGHT: Come with a heart posture of dependence on Him and He will take care of you (Mt. 6:33).
2) Be quick to confess and willing to do the work of forgiveness (v. 12).
EXAMPLE: Foot washing principle
INSIGHT: Notice the prerequisite.
3) Ask God to guide your steps and to evict your enemy (v. 13).
INSIGHT: Know thyself.
INSIGHT: Know thy enemy.
CHALLENGE: At least one time this week, pray in this way.
