Thinking back to your attitude as a child toward authority, were you a rebel or a rule follower?

1. Consider the phrase: “The trust of our hearts often follows the lead of our minds.” Dan mentioned that since that is the case, it is important for Christians to take into their minds just as much (if not more) Scripture, prayer, and worship as they do network news. What happens when we do not do that?

2. In this day and age when it comes to governmental leaders most people tend to do more criticizing than praying. Why do you think that is?

3. Why should we trust God even when governmental leaders do not rule according to God’s ways? How do we trust God in those situations?

4. These verses say that every political leader is put in place by God. How do we make sense of that when a political leader does evil? How does this passage affect our trust in God’s Word?

5. Does the Bible ever permit or encourage us to disobey civil authorities?

6. What does it mean for us to submit all of our lives to the authority of God’s Word?

7. At the end of the sermon Dan gave us 6 practical ways to live out this passage. Which of those practical ways stood out to you?
