Investing in Young People - Phil Kendon
Investing in Young People is one of the values of Redeemer Church, and there are several reasons for that. Many children who grow up in Christian homes go through a stage as teenagers where they either find their own faith or drift out of the church completely. That season of life is one where young people are wrestling with their identity and can feel disconnected from God. It is vital for every church to engage with their young people and to help them navigate that stage of their lives. This will benefit the youth as they find a more personal relationship with God and benefit the church by keeping us from becoming so focussed on our traditions that we lose touch with God and with his people.

1. God uses the weak

1 Corinthians 1:26–29 (NIV)

God loves the weak because when we are weak, we know that we are completely dependent on him.
2. Avoiding the trap of tradition

Matthew 15:1–9 (NIV)

There may be good reasons for a tradition. But it is not a right or wrong issue. It is just a tradition.
3. Becoming like a child

Matthew 18:1–5 (NIV)

There is a spiritual way of living that is essentially self-reliant but there is another way of living that is completely dependent on our guardian - Jesus.
