New Lead Pastor—Pastor Edwin Vargas
The Lord has answered our prayers and Pastor Edwin Vargas, along with his wife Lisanette, has answered the Lord’s call to join Beltsville SDA Church as Lead Pastor.
Pastor Edwin has been described by his colleagues as an intelligent, creative, and collaborative leader. Having served as a lead pastor and church planter in the Denver, Colorado and Portland, Oregon areas, he brings experience leading multi-site churches. He has expressed a passion for developing best practices for church planting and loves to develop leaders and help the next generation invest themselves in God’s kingdom through the church.
Holding an MDiv. from Andrews University and currently a missiology doctoral candidate there, Pastor Edwin returns to the National Capital area where he once served for nearly a decade and a half at the North American Division. He comes to us from his native Puerto Rico.
Let’s pray for Pastor and Sister Vargas as they follow the Lord’s lead and prepare to travel north to Maryland. Especially beseech the Lord to guide and strengthen them and their three sons in this period of transition. Pastor Vargas will be installed as Lead Pastor of the Beltsville Church on Sabbath, June 3.
New Tech Road Campus Pastor
We welcome Pastor Jason Dietz as he joins the Beltsville SDA Church pastoral team as Tech Road Campus Pastor!
Pastor Jason comes to us from Washington Adventist University where he has served as Chaplain for the last two years. A former Special Operations Team Leader in the U.S. Army Rangers, he earned a master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry at Andrews University after studying Theology with a minor in Biblical Languages at Southern Adventist University.
Pastor Jason is married to Simonique Dietz, who is a ministry partner, mom, and a Digital Producer. They are no strangers to Beltsville—their two daughters attend Beltsville Adventist School.
We hear from the Potomac Conference that Lead Pastor Edwin Vargas will join the Pastoral Staff May 15 and be formally installed June 3. Pastor Jason comes to us on June 1. His installation is scheduled for June 10.

New Adventurers Leader— Yilmarie Hall
The Church-wide Board has endorsed Sister Yilmarie Hall to lead BSDA’s Adventurer Program.
Pastor Mark O’Ffill is stepping down as Adventurer Director as his
daughter, Katie, is moving on to Pathfinders. We thank him for his service!
Yilmarie, a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist, has a passion for working with the youngest members of our church and believes that we are the biggest examples to them of what God’s character truly is. She is excited to accept the role of Adventurer Director for Beltsville and knows that she has an amazing church family to lean on for support.
Yilmarie’s best memories include all the Adventurer activities that she participated in growing up. Her mother was Adventurer Director while she was in the program and her father was Director when she was a Pathfinder. While in high school, she volunteered all four years for the Southern New England Conference-wide Adventurer weekend camporee. Since then, she has served in this area with Busy Bees, Sunbeams, and Builder classes.
She has been married to Justin Hall for almost 15 years, and they have two children who will be in Adventurers with her and another in Pathfinders.
Let’s pray for and support our new Adventurer leader, Yilmarie Hall!
