Manteno Cleanup Day
Saturday, May 6 | 10am-12:30pm | We are joining the Annual Village of Manteno Community Cleanup Day. Lunch will be provided compliments of Prairie Materials. It is a great way to meet new friends, connect with neighbors, give back to the community, and enjoy a day outdoors! Garbage bags and safety vests will be provided. You are encouraged to wear old clothes (or a church shirt) and bring your own work gloves. The Village would appreciate a heads-up so they know how much lunch to get. Either sign up with the Village or let the office know by Thursday, May 4.

Half-Million Mobilization Prayer Initiative
Will you join us in prayer? We are joining our denomination and praying from Easter to Pentecost for the future of the Church; for the direction and revelation of the Holy Spirit. You can join by downloading the “Half-Million Mobilization” app or by printing out a pdf at https://www.usacanadaregion.org/pray

Garden Ministry
Our Garden Ministry is back up and rolling most Saturday mornings. The ministry began in 2017 with the purpose of growing vegetables to donate to those in need in Manteno, Bourbonnais, Bradley, and Kankakee. Volunteers aged 3 and up are needed. There are many different jobs to volunteer for - tending the garden, harvesting, and driving produce to local food pantries. Contact the office or Nick Boros to get added to their Facebook Messenger group and get current information on when they are working and if it's just too muddy to work.

Verse 1
I was buried beneath my shame
Who could carry that kind of weight
It was my tomb 'til I met You

Verse 2
I was breathing but not alive
All my failures I tried to hide
It was my tomb 'til I met You

Chorus
('Cause when) You called my name (and)
I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day
You called my name (and) I ran out of that grave
Out of the darkness into Your glorious day

Verse 3
Now Your mercy has saved my soul
Now Your freedom is all that I know
The old made new Jesus when I met You

Bridge
I needed rescue my sin was heavy
But chains break at the weight of Your glory
I needed shelter I was an orphan
Now You call me a citizen of Heaven
When I was broken You were my healing
Now Your love is the air that I'm breathing
I have a future my eyes are open

To God Be The Glory

Verse 1
To God be the glory great things He has done
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son
Who yielded His life an atonement for sin
And opened the life gate that all may go in

Chorus
Praise the Lord praise the Lord
Let the earth hear His voice
Praise the Lord praise the Lord
Let the people rejoice
O come to the Father through Jesus the Son
And give Him the glory great things He has done

Verse 2
O perfect redemption the purchase of blood
To every believer the promise of God
The vilest offender who truly believes
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives

Verse 3
Great things He has taught us
Great things He has done
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son
But purer and higher and greater will be
Our wonder our transport when Jesus we see

Verse 1
Lord I come I confess
Bowing here I find my rest
And without You I fall apart
You're the one that guides my heart

Chorus 1
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

Verse 2
Where sin runs deep Your grace is more
Where grace is found is where You are
And where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me
Where You are Lord I am free
Holiness is Christ in me

Bridge
So teach my song to rise to You
When temptation comes my way
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay
And when I cannot stand I'll fall on You
Jesus You're my hope and stay

Chorus 2
Lord I need You oh I need You
Ev'ry hour I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You
My one defense my righteousness
Oh God how I need You

Than Jesus' blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame

Weak made strong in the Saviour's love
Through the storm He is Lord
Lord of all

Verse 2
When darkness seems to hide His face
I rest on His unchanging grace
In every high and stormy gale
My anchor holds within the veil
My anchor holds within the veil

Interlude
He is Lord Lord of all

Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone

Journey of Grace: Saving Grace
Ephesians 2:1-10
April 30, 2023

Good Enough

Grace is favor given to someone who deserves the opposite.

“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Luke 19:10

Saving Grace

Ephesians 2:1-3
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.

To be in sin is to be...DEAD
…you were dead in your transgressions and sins…
Ephesians 2:1

To be in sin is to be...REBELLIOUS
…you followed… the spirit who is at work in those who are disobedient.
Ephesians 2:2

To be in sin is to be…ENSLAVED
All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts.
Ephesians 2:3

Save Me - Jelly Roll
Somebody save me, me from myself
I've spent so long living in Hell
They say my lifestyle is bad for my health
It's the only thing that seems to help

All of this drinkin' and smokin' is hopeless
But feel like it's all that I need
Somethin' inside of me's broken
I hold on to anything that sets me free

I'm a lost cause
Baby, don't waste your time on me
I'm so damaged beyond repair
Life has shattered my hopes and my dreams.

To be in sin is to be...DESERVING OF WRATH
…we were by nature deserving of wrath.
Ephesians 2:3

Ephesians 2:4-5
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

“We are not saved because we are good; we are saved because God is good.”
David Busic

And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,...
Ephesians 2:6

God not only saves us FROM sin, but saves us FOR… RELATIONSHIP
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,...
Ephesians 2:6

... in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:7

God not only saves us FROM sin, but saves usFOR… ETERNITY
…in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:7

God not only saves us FROM sin, but saves usFOR… PURPOSE
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10

“Good works can never earn salvation, but there is something radically wrong if salvation does not produce good works.”
William Barclay

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
