Mirrors as we know them did not exist until the mid-1200s. Prior to that time, polished brass or ordinary glass was used to see one’s image—albeit only dimly, or “darkly.” Thus, Paul says that although we see things spiritually, we don’t see them clearly. We still have lots of questions.
