ECC-Evangelical Covenant Church
One Thing: There and Back Again
Good morning! In Psalm 27.4, King David states that there is one thing he asks of the Lord, and then he uses three phrases to name that one thing: "to DWELL in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to GAZE upon the beauty of the Lord, and to SEEK him in his temple." We invite you to join us each week at 10:30am in person (3600 S. 9th Street), on YouTube (@ECCofLafayette), or on our website (ecclife.net/worship) as we look at the ways scripture teaches us to dwell with God, to gaze upon God's beauty, and to seek him in his temple.

• 30-Day Gospel Reading Plan: One of the best ways to get to know God is by getting to know Jesus. One of the best ways to get to know Jesus is by regularly reading the gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. We are encouraging each of us to be intentional about how we engage with God through scripture in 2023 and to move toward having a regular rhythm of engaging with God and his word. We have a guide available at here (https://ecclife.net/30-day-gospel-reading-plan). (There are multiple options so each of us can choose a plan that works for us to be in God’s word.)

One Thing: There and Back Again
March 19, 2023
Fourth Sunday in Lent
Pastor Stacey Littlefield
A Question to Ponder.
Can you think of a time in your life when you moved from a season of ORIENTATION to DISORIENTATION? What about a time when you moved from DISORIENTATION to REORIENTATION? If so, what was that like? What did you learn about God or yourself?
A Question to Ponder.
In your own words, how would you define each of the seasons of the life of faith as developed by Walter Brueggemann?

ORIENTATION
DISORIENTATION
REORIENTATION
A Question to Ponder.
In your own words, what does it mean to "seek God's face", practically speaking? How do we do this?
BONUS Question.
Where did the title of the sermon come from?
How does it relate to today's message?

There's a $5 gift card from Starbucks for the first person to email or text me with the answer. You must answer both questions to win the gift card!

Fourth Sunday in Lent
Gracious Father, whose blessed Son Jesus Christ came down from heaven to be the true bread which gives life to the world: Evermore give us this bread, that he may live in us, and we in him; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
