Are we following who Jesus is, or the Jesus we want Him to be?
Have you ever felt unseen or insignificant?
Significant: To be sufficiently great or important. To be worthy of attention; noteworthy.
Comparison is the killer to feeling significant.
God’s view of significance is different than our worlds.
Jesus sits down with his disciples to eat Passover meal.
Servanthood is the cornerstone of significance in God’s Kingdom.
Greatest temptation to avoid servanthood is pride.
Matthew 26:21 - 23, 25 NLT
“While they were eating, he said, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me.” Greatly distressed, each one asked in turn, “Am I the one, Lord?? He replied One of you who has just eaten from this bowl with me will betray me.”)... “Judas, the one who would betray him, asked, “Rabbi, am I the one?”
Now why would Jesus put Judas in the guest of honor?
Peter unknowingly was seated in the greatest seat of honor.
Next Step: Surrender and serve Jesus by serving other people in the name of Jesus.
Life Group Sermon Questions below:
Last Week

Did you have a chance to reflect on who Jesus is and His role in your life?

Before this week’s lesson, what ran through your mind when you think about the Last Supper?

Have you ever been challenged with feeling insignificant? Why do you think you felt this way?

Do you find yourself comparing yourself with others? What about comparison to others hurts us?

John records the washing of the feet in the Upper Room. How does this change the way you think about the Last Supper?

If our love for one another is how we show the world that we are Jesus’s disciples, why does that seem to be a struggle for us? What does that tell us about ourselves?

Apply SOAP (Scripture, Observation, Application, Prayer) to:
2 Corinthians 10:12 (NIV)
We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.
- Read the verses out loud together
- Share your observations
- Discuss Application
- Close in Prayer
