Exodus 40, Hebrews 9, Hebrews 10
1. A life separated from sin, unto God, sets us free and makes us free.
2. God got His people out of Egypt, but He also got Egypt out of His people.
Hebrews 9:23-26 (NLT) 23 The Tabernacle and everything in it, which were copies of things in heaven, had to be purified by the blood of animals. But the real things in heaven had to be purified with far better sacrifices than the blood of animals. 24 For Christ did not enter into a holy place made with human hands, which was only a copy of the true one in heaven. He entered into heaven itself to appear now before God on our behalf. 25 And he did not enter heaven to offer himself again and again, like the high priest here on earth who enters the Most Holy Place year after year with the blood of an animal. 26 If that had been necessary, Christ would have had to die again and again, ever since the world began. But now, once for all time, he has appeared at the end of the age to remove sin by his own death as a sacrifice.
Hebrews 10:10 (NIV) …we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
3. Jesus makes us wholly, holy—physically, emotionally and spiritually.
I Thessalonians 5:23 (KJV) And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your wholespirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 1:2 (KJV) To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
4. Being “sainted” means we are not owned by satan.
5. Jesus gave His body to sanctify us physically.
I Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
1 Thessalonians 4:3 (ESV) For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality;
Psalm 100:4 (KJV) Enter his gates with thanksgiving and into his courts with praise.
Isaiah 53:5 (KJV) By His stripes we are healed.
6. Jesus gave His soul to sanctify us emotionally.
Matthew 16:24-25 (KJV) Jesus said, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25For whosoever will save his life [soul] shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life [soul] for my sake shall find it.
Isaiah 53:10 (KJV) He made his soul an offering for sin.
Luke 21:12-19 (KJV) “But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.13And it shall turn to you for a testimony. 14Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:15For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.16And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death. 17And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake. 18But there shall not an hair of your head perish.19In your patience possess ye your souls.”
Psalm 103:1-5 (NIV) David said, Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
• Jesus forgives us.
• Jesus heals us.
• Jesus redeems us.
• Jesus crowns us.
• Jesus satisfies us.
• Jesus renews us.
7. Jesus gave His spirit to sanctify us spiritually.
Luke 23:45-46 (KJV) 45 And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Hebrews 10:19-22 (NKJV) 19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness[a] to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (KJV) 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
