Psalm 13

https://my.bible.com/bible/111/PSA.13.1-6.NIV
Suffering refines what we trust in and how we talk about it.
TURN • COMPLAINT • ASK • TRUST
Trust looks like talking to God, sharing our complaints, seeking God’s help, and then recommitting ourselves to believe in who God is and what he has done… even if the trial continues.
David combines TURN and COMPLAINT (vv. 1-2)
David boldly ASKS God for help (vv. 3-4)
“God is working right now, but not so much to give us predictable, comfortable, and pleasurable lives. He isn’t so much working to transform our circumstances as He is working through hard circumstances to transform us. In grace, He leads you where you didn’t plan to go in order to produce in you what you cannot achieve on your own.” (Paul David Tripp)
3 affirmations of TRUST (vv. 5-6)
1. I trust in your unfailing love

Being a follower of Jesus requires we walk with a continual trust in God.
2. My heart rejoices in your salvation

“Choosing to trust through Lament requires that we rejoice without having all the dots connected. We decide to let God be his own interpreter, trusting that somehow his gracious plan is being worked out-even when we can’t see it.” (Mark Vroegop)
3. The LORD has been good to me

“Keep trusting the One who keeps you trusting.”
TURN • COMPLAINT • ASK • TRUST
