Heartland Community Church
Sunday Worship October 28, 2018
Grace is foundational to our faith, yet one of the hardest things to wrap our heads around. It’s free, but costly. It’s the only path to life, but means dying. It’s for those who aren’t perfect and those who think they are. It’s extended to everyone, but only accepted by a few. It’s amazing and the best news ever, but we make it messy. Join us as we take a deep dive into God’s grace and the mess we make of it the next four weeks as we remember that grace is for everyone, grace is always loving, grace is always true, and that grace is for you.

Welcome to Heartland!
We're so glad you joined us for worship this morning! We hope you feel welcome, at home, and encounter God in a meaningful way. If you're a guest, please take a moment to fill out a Connection Card and then drop it in the offering plate or leave it at the Welcome Center. We hope the music inspires you, the message encourages and challenges you, and our people make you feel at home! Thanks for joining us this morning!

Everything we do at Heartland starts with you. Working together, we accomplish more than any of us could alone. We encourage people to give generously as God has given to them, knowing we can't outgive God! Upcoming Events & Announcements
Trunk or Treat
Join the fun on October 31st from 5-7 p.m. It's going to be a fun and exciting night, with our people passing out candy, and it will also feature some of the Great Bend Firefighters and one of their firetrucks, a photo booth, and a bounce house for the kids to work off some of their sugared-up energy. This is a wonderful community outreach for Heartland. Be sure to invite your friends and family!

New Members Class
We’re launching another New Member Class next Sunday, November 4th! This is a great opportunity to get connected to the church at a deeper level. We’ll talk about the essential beliefs of our faith and our church, explore your gifts and purpose, help you develop deeper roots for your faith, and connect you to what it means to be a part of our church. Childcare and lunch are provided, so plan on joining us for this amazing experience! Please register at http://bit.ly/NewMemberNov18 or let Pastor Matt know if you’re planning on attending so we can have all the logistics worked out.

Church Directory
We are excited to be putting together a pictorial church directory. Please sign up to have your portraits taken. Professional photography will be available next Sunday, November 4th, 4:30-8; Monday and Tuesday, November 5th and 6th, and Thursday, November 8th, 5:30-8; then again the following week on Sunday, November 11th, 12:30-8; Monday and Tuesday, November 12th and 13th, and Thursday, November 15th, 5:30-8. Check your schedules and sign up now! Portraits will be available at a significantly discounted price. Additionally, every family ordering any portraits will receive a free 8x10.

Only Eight Sundays til Christmas!
Christmas will be here before we know it and the Children’s Choir is starting to prepare for their Christmas Pageant. If you know of any children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade who would want to participate or have a part in the Pageant, parts will be assigned soon. Encourage them to come, participate, and share the Light of the World, the story of His birth.

Operation Christmas Child
Help share the love of Christ with a child through a simple shoe box. Pick up a box at the Welcome Center and fill it with small gifts. Suggestions are listed on the instructions. You can bring the filled boxes to the church anytime through November 18th.

Pray for those who are persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. Pray for their strength and boldness in sharing their faith and in standing up to their oppressors. Pray that we would be as bold in sharing our faith as well.

Please continue to pray for John & Carole Harris. John is now taking his dialysis at home, four times a day, and Carole has been trained so she is able to give him his treatment. Carole continues to receive her chemotherapy weekly. Please pray that these treatments will be effective for both of them.

Pray for Jenni Wittig, that all side effects from her chemo and other meds will be minimal, and for healing for her body and for her energy.

Alan Schneweis, Richard Schneweis’ brother, is on hospice care at home. Please pray for his peace and comfort, and for all of Alan’s family.

Praise! Stacy Sanders surgery last week went well and she is now home recuperating. Please continue to pray for her health and comfort.

Pray for our nation as we approach the midterm elections, that God’s love would pervade every corner of our country and that everyone would choose to love others as Jesus loves us. Pray for civility especially among those who represent us, for healing, and for God’s direction and mercy.

Grace is for everyone, everywhere, all the time.
Grace is always loving and always true- it has to be both or it's not grace.
Grace isn't ever about our personal plans, but God's plans.
Grace forces us to confront our expectations and trade them for what God wants to do in us.
Grace never stops with one person, but seeks to transform others through the one.
Grace is about a total transformation, changing our very identity.
Grace is for you and God's grace changes everything.
Monday is coming!
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. This week take time to think about grace- what Jesus did for you and what He wants to do in you. His grace changes everything, but we have to know it and choose it. Choose grace and grow in grace this week as we read and think together!
Grace is for you and God's grace changes everything.
