Heartland Community Church
Sunday Worship October 21, 2018
Grace is foundational to our faith, yet one of the hardest things to wrap our heads around. It’s free, but costly. It’s the only path to life, but means dying. It’s for those who aren’t perfect and those who think they are. It’s extended to everyone, but only accepted by a few. It’s amazing and the best news ever, but we make it messy. Join us as we take a deep dive into God’s grace and the mess we make of it the next four weeks as we remember that grace is for everyone, grace is always loving, grace is always true, and that grace is for you.

We hope the music inspires you, the message encourages and challenges you, and our people make you feel at home! Thanks for joining us this morning!

Online Giving

Everything we do at Heartland starts with you. Working together, we accomplish more than any of us could alone. We encourage people to give generously as God has given to them, knowing we can't outgive God! Upcoming Events
Only Nine Sundays til Christmas!
Christmas will be here before we know it and the Children’s Choir is starting to prepare for their Christmas Pageant. If you know of any children in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade who would want to participate or have a part in the Pageant, parts will start being assigned soon. Encourage them to come, participate, and share the story of His birth.

Trunk or Treat
Make our Trunk or Treat Sweet! There are several ways to help:
* Donate candy, we will need a lot! Please purchase bags of individually wrapped candy and place it in the marked bin outside the sanctuary doors. * Host a car! We need to know ahead of time if you plan to have your car here so we can save a spot for you. Please sign up on one of the bulletin boards or talk to Kat. * Help in the kitchen with the chili and hot dog feed just for Heartland trunk hosts. by keeping bowls filled and dogs heated. We'll need a few hospitable souls to help on this busy night from about 4:30-6:30.

It's going to be a fun and exciting night, with our people passing out candy, and it will also feature some of the Great Bend Firefighters and one of their firetrucks, and a bounce house for the kids to work off some of their sugared-up energy. This is a wonderful community outreach for Heartland. Be sure to invite your friends and family!

New Members Class
We’re launching another New Member Class November 4th! This is a great opportunity to get connected to the church at a deeper level. We’ll talk about the essential beliefs of our faith and our church, explore your gifts and purpose, help you develop deeper roots for your faith, and connect you to what it means to be a part of our church. Childcare and lunch are provided, so plan on joining us for this amazing experience! Please register at http://bit.ly/NewMemberNov18 or let Pastor Matt know if you’re planning on attending so we can have all the logistics worked out.

Sermon Notes & Scripture
"Messy Grace: Grace is Always True"
Pastor Matt Schaffner
Grace is for everyone. Grace is always loving. But grace must also be true.
Knowledge of God's holiness is the beginning of understanding grace.
Knowledge of our sin is the end of understanding grace.
Grace is the antidote for counterfeit spirituality.
Counterfeit #2: The JUSTIFYING Fake
Counterfeit #3: JUDGMENTAL Liar
Grace requires truth because when I'm honest, I see why grace is always loving: it sees me as I am and offers hope.
Monday is coming!
What happens Sunday is only as meaningful as what you do with it the rest of the week. This week dig deeply into the truth of God's Word and be reminded of the truth about who you are & who God is. Then turn and extend the same grace you've been given, choosing to live an authentic faith!
