Thanksgiving is GRATITUDE GIVEN.
Being so GRATEFUL OF the Lord we express our GRATITUDE TO the Lord.
Thanksgiving is PERSONAL.
TRUE GRATITUDE of the Lord becomes REAL FAITHFULNESS to the Lord.
True thanksgiving always causes SERVING.
Giving Thanks in Practical WaysOther Thanksgiving Praise Psalms to Ponder – Psalm 67, 34, 45, 50, 136.
1. Have a time of Thanksgiving with your family and make it about people. Have everyone name someone – not in the family having this discussion – they are grateful for…and why. Have them write a note or hand make a card to say thank you. Then challenge them to consider why and how they are thankful for God and make him a hand made card or handwritten note. Share them with one another.
2. Take Psalm 136 and write it with things you are grateful for – just use the rhythm that you write one line of Thanksgiving, and the next line be “His steadfast love endures forever.” Allow the enduring love of the Lord to remind you that his blessings are personal.
3. Find a way to serve during the Thanksgiving time – as a family. Even if it is not with an organization or event. Just do something good for some other folks. Have a conversation and time of prayer and thank God for his blessings that allow you to be a blessing to others.
4. Create a God Box for things you are thankful for and start writing them and throwing them in the box. Challenge yourself if you realize you are not being grateful for someone or something, that you will make yourself go take it out of the box. Allow this to help you live in continued gratitude.
