HOW TO CHOOSE HOW I THINK

12 Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Romans 12:2a (NLT)

Why Managing My Mind Is So Important:

1. BECAUSE MY LIFE FLOWS FROM MY THOUGHTS AND GOD EMPOWERS ME TO CONTROL THEM.

23 More than anything you guard, protect your mind, for life flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 (CEB)

2. BECAUSE MY MIND IS THE BATTLEGROUND FOR SIN.

21 I have discovered this principle of life - that when I want to do what is right, I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. Romans 7:21-23 (NLT)

3. BECAUSE IT’S ESSENTIAL FOR BRINGING PEACE AND HAPPINESS TO MY MIND.

6 If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace. Romans 8:6 (NLT)

3 Daily Decisions For A Healthy Mind:

1. I MUST FEED MY MIND WITH THE TRUTH OF GOD.

JESUS: 32 “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32 (NLT)

JESUS: 4 “People need more than bread for their life, they must feed on every word of God.” Matthew 4:4 (NLT)

WHEN SHOULD I FEED ON THE WORD OF GOD? ALL THE TIME!

147 I rise early, before the sun is up; I cry out for help and to put my hope in Your Words. Psalm 119:147 (NLT)

97 O, how I love Your instructions, I think about them all day long. Psalm 119:97 (NLT)

7 ...Even in the darkest night, Your teachings fill my mind. Psalm 16:7b (CEV)

2. I MUST FLUSH FROM MY MIND STINKING THINKING.

Three Enemies Battle In Your Mind Against Your Best Aims/Intentions/Goals:

- My OLD NATURE FROM MY LIFE BEFORE JESUS.

23 I see in my body a principle at war with the law of my mind, taking me captive to the law of sin that dwells inside me. Romans 7:23 (NAB)

5 Those who are dominated by their sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. Romans 8:5 (NLT)

- My OLD NEMESIS FROM ANCIENT DAYS.

10 I forgive this man, too…so that Satan won’t outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:10a, 11 (NLT)

- My OLD VALUES FROM THIS WORLD.

3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 3. I MUST FOCUS MY MIND ON THE RIGHT MATTERS.

Four Things That Make The Biggest Difference In Your Mental State:

- THINK ABOUT JESUS.

5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Philippians 2:5 (NLT)

8 Remember Jesus Christ… 2 Timothy 2:8a (ESV)
8 Keep your mind on Jesus Christ… 2 Timothy 2:8a (CEV)

2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus… Hebrews 12:2a (NLT)

3 Think about Jesus’ example… Hebrews 12:3 (NCV)

- THINK ABOUT OTHERS.

4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. Philippians 2:4 (NLT)

- THINK ABOUT RIGHT THINGS.

8 ...Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8b (NLT)

- THINK ABOUT ETERNITY.

27 Above all, you must live as citizens of Heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Philippians 1:27a (NLT)
