Joseph Parry/Gabriel Faure, arr. by Gail Smith
CALL TO WORSHIP | Pastor Bonnie, Judy Holt

L: Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD, my soul.
C: I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
L: Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the LORD their God.
C: He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets prisoners free, the LORD gives sight to the blind, the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down.
L: The LORD reigns forever, your God, O Zion, for all generations. Let us join together in praising the LORD!
HYMN
"Standing On the Promises" #374

1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let his praises ring;
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

Refrain:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.

2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
[Refrain]

3. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
[Refrain]

4. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
Listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
Resting in my Savior as my all in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
[Refrain]
UNISON PRAYER | Pastor Bonnie, Sue Rodriguez

Lord of all that is, and is to come,
Your word tells us that there is great good in godliness combined with contentment; that as we brought nothing into this world, so we can take nothing out of it. Help us, dear Lord, to be content with what we have; to seek Heavenly treasures rather than those things of this world which rust corrodes and moths consume. Grant that we might be people who share the wealth that You have provided; that we might be ones who share both the bread and wine of earth and the bread and wine of Heaven.

O God, we especially pray today for those who like Lazarus are ignored or neglected and left to suffer in our world; those who live in poverty within our town and province, and those who lie in great suffering at the gates of our nation. Bind Your people together and make us bright and shining witnesses to Your compassion and Your grace. In Jesus’ holy name we pray. Amen.
HYMN (8:30)
"Onward, Christian Soldiers" #575

1. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see his banners go!

Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

2. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise.
(Refrain)

3. Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod.
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
(Refrain)

4. Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain.
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.
(Refrain)

5. Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song.
Glory, laud, and honor unto Christ the King,
This through countless ages men and angels sing.
(Refrain)

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE | Pastor Bonnie, Sue Rodriguez

Breakthrough Prayer: Word of God, blowing among the crowds at Pentecost, sweeping across generations to claim us, may we be born anew by Your Holy Spirit. Speak to us amid our earthly journey so we may live, not for ourselves, but for the whole human family in Huber Heights. Send us as messengers of Good News and bearers of Your peace.

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

RESPONSE
"Jesus Calls Us" #398

1. Jesus calls us o'er the tumult
Of our life's wild, restless sea;
Day by day his sweet voice soundeth,
Saying, "Christian, follow me!"

2. As of old the apostles heard it
By the Galilean lake,
Turned from home and toil and kindred,
Leaving all for Jesus' sake.

3. Jesus calls us from the worship
Of the vain world's golden store,
From each idol that would keep us,
Saying, "Christian, love me more!"

4. In our joys and in our sorrows,
Days of toil and hours of ease,
Still he calls, in cares and pleasures,
"Christian, love me more than these!"

5. Jesus calls us! By thy mercies,
Savior, may we hear thy call,
Give our hearts to thine obedience,
Serve and love thee best of all.
